Syrian Rebels have managed to repel an attack on the town of Rastan, which sits inside the Homs region and is a home to many defectors from the Syrian regime. This key city sits in between Homs and Aleppo and has fallen from rebel control twice before. However, the rebel’s ability to hold Rastan despite the attacks and partial encircling of it is good news for the rebellion as it seeks international aid. Perhaps if the rebels show their potency the international community will be put pressure on Russia and China to approve UN resolutions that will allow for an intervention similar to that seen in Libya’s civil war just last year.
