Following a Saudi pledge to increase oil production to supply states banning Iranian oil, tensions between the two countries have peeked. Iran repeatedly threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, where 40% of the world oil transit, threats which “could be interpreted by Saudi Arabia as an act of war,” Ali Al-Tawati, a Saudi military affairs analyst said. But does Saudi Arabia, together its partner from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, , Qatar, and United Arab Emirates – to defend themselves against Iran?
