Following a meeting between Fatah and Hamas officials on Saturday in Gaza City, both sides said there was progress in the implementation of the reconciliation agreement. The presidential compound in Gaza will be return to Fatah and the dispute concerning the alleged refusal by Hamas to allow entry of Fatah officials into Gaza was overcome. However, Hamas claims that Mahmoud Abbas asked various countries not to host Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh during his first regional tour since 2007. ”These claims are not true, and didn’t even cross the President’s mind at all,” a presidential spokesman said. ”It seems that Haniyeh lives under illusions which have no explanation apart from his own intentions and determination to disturb the atmosphere of the reconciliation.”
