US proposal links Palestinian Authority aid to halting UN push

The US Congress would allow American economic aid to the Palestinian Authority to continue next year so long as Palestine is not admitted as a state to any more United Nations organizations, under a proposal released on Thursday. The measure pending before lawmakers would appear to give Palestinians a pass on the UN organization they have already joined — the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
